Epilepsy Waterloo-Wellington is a community based agency whose team of caring members, volunteers, and staff are dedicated to improving the quality of life for those with epilepsy and their support network through counselling, education, advocacy, and public awareness.
With this mission statement in mind, Epilepsy Waterloo-Wellington provides to the community the following resources:
- support groups and counselling for those with epilepsy and their loved ones
- epilepsy resource centre
- education and awareness-building about epilepsy through presentations, speeches, and in an on-line environment
- compilation of useful online resources
- direction to further services (legal, transportation, medical, etc.) when necessary
First established in 1982, Epilepsy Waterloo-Wellington is a non-profit organization serving the counties of Waterloo and Wellington in Ontario, Canada (Kitchener, Waterloo, Cambridge, Guelph, and surrounding townships). It is run by a small number of dedicated staff and is governed by the Board of Directors who, together with volunteers and members, ensure those who are affected by epilepsy in our community have the services, support, and information they need.
Epilepsy Waterloo-Wellington Staff
Darlene Fallan -- Group Facilitator
I am a retired French teacher with over 20 years experience with grades 1 - 8. I am also a trained educational therapist in the NILD Discovery program working with children who have learning disabilities. May favourite role is Mom to two beautiful girls and their husbands, also Grandma to three precious grandchildren. Since becoming facilitator of the Guelph Support Group, I have learned much about Epilepsy and also the people who are managing it in their daily lives. I desire to serve them and to educate the public about Epilepsy. I want to advocate for those who have been unfairly treated and offer support to those who need encouragement.

Karen Reeves -- Executive Director
My name is Karen Reeves and I am very happy to introduce myself as the new Executive Director of EWW. As an epileptic myself, I have a vested and personal interest in serving EWW to the best of my abilities. I welcome the challenges, hard work, growth and successes that will come along with this new role.
My career has been comprised predominately of various positions within the social network of agencies. Much like the rest of the Board Members, I find this work to be a pleasure as it affords me the chance to give back to the community that has given so much.
I am very fond of Waterloo Region, as I have enjoyed spending most of my life here locally. I have also spent a considerable amount of time at my “other” home in Florida and do have to admit that I like that climate better!
My spare time is divided between my two amazing daughters and one crazy (but devoted) dog, who live with me near downtown Waterloo, with friends and volunteering in the community where ever possible.
I sincerely welcome you to drop me a line or stop by and visit our office if you wish any assistance related to epilepsy.
Live each day to your fullest;
